City of North Bay (2004 - 2010)

In addition to serving two terms as Mayor of the City of North Bay, Vic Fedeli also used the title C.E.O. on his business cards. Under the Ontario Municipal Act, the Mayor has the right (and Vic felt it an obligation) to also operate as C.E.O. of the City.

Vic took this opportunity to begin to market the City – something he felt was long overdue. Everything needed to be designed from scratch, including industrial and community brochures, backdrops and display booths, specialized websites (Economic Development, Immigration, etc.) – in fact every possible marketing material.

While outside firms were contracted to provide all the collateral materials, Vic was widely consulted to contribute to the ‘look and feel’ of all materials. Once developed, Vic then launched a comprehensive Mayoral website. City staff updated it daily with photos of every meeting he attended, as part of his new open-and-transparent government. He also wrote a weekly Blog which was sent out to over 5,000 subscribers, every Monday morning.

Everyone would agree that Mayor Vic, along with his Council and City staff, initiated an ‘open for business’ program at City Hall, which contributed to the success of the city throughout the 2008-2010 recession
